OUR PROGRAMS

Support before, during and after a disaster.

Footprint Project programs build community resilience by providing tools, knowledge and people. Across the US and in multiple countries, our dedicated team and devoted partners work tirelessly to build a more sustainable and resilient future.  These programs have grown from immediate disaster response with solar trailers to community build workshops, long-term resilience microgrid hubs and the recovery of over 50 pallets worth of decommissioned clean energy equipment.

    Rapid Response

Relief and recovery is typically carbon-intensive. As climate change drives emergency humanitarian need, we rapidly deploy mobile solar generators and related off-grid equipment to power up disaster responders and survivors.

    Long-Term Recovery

Communities need flexible options that are ready in times of need. By sharing local networks, cooperating with like-mind organizations and installing permanent microgrids, we help make communities more resilient.

  • Community Builds

What if we weren’t just reacting to the next storm, but we were ready for it? Through grassroots networks and on-the-ground partnerships, we develop fleets of community mobile solar generators and train local partners to plug-in.

  • Upcycled Energy

Many decommissioned solar components still have a lot of life to give. We repurpose new and used-but-functional green infrastructure by distributing to select nonprofit and service organizations for their climate disaster response/recover.

IMPACT

250+ kW of mobile solar deployed

30+ disaster response and recovery missions

700+ kWh of mobile battery storage provided

Provided emergency clean power access to 50,000+ people

RAPID RESPONSE

Damage to bridge in North Carolina due to flood waters.

Hurricane Helene

Registering as one of the largest hurricanes to impact the continental U.S., Hurricane Helene brought more than 14 inches of rain, unprecedented flooding and landslides. Helene quickly became our largest response and recovery operation to date. Since our teams arrived in North Carolina in September 2025, we’ve raised and committed over $1 million in funding and sustainable response equipment towards communities affected by the storm.

This is the first time in nearly 3 weeks we can have some light other than a flashlight and no noise and no worry from a generator. It makes the situation feel so much safer.

LONG-TERM RECOVERY

Beehive Microgrids

Beehive Microgrids™ (Beehives) provide communities affected by climate disasters with rapidly deployable, sustainable infrastructure that can be moved where it’s needed most, when it’s needed most. These flexible systems serve both “blue sky” (nice weather) and “grey sky” (disaster response) needs with a renewable energy hub or Beehive that provides shelter, electricity, clean water and a reliable space to gather and rebuild.

What’s in a Beehive?

Power Bee

A solar trailer plus battery that can contain additional solar panels, additional solar generators and battery power packs.

Cooler Bee

A solar-powered cooler or freezer trailer or solar trailer that contains freezers and fridges capable of storing food and medication.

Water Bee

A solar-powered water generator or solar trailer that powers atmospheric water generators to provide clean drinking water.

COMMUNITY BUILDS

Build Power

Footprint Project believes in people-powered resilience. The best way to develop new, resilient infrastructure is to build it together. That’s why, between disasters, we partner with mutual aid networks, non-profits, schools, fire stations, government entities and more. Together, we assemble off-grid, mobile solar generators while training, educating and empowering communities to safely plug in to clean energy systems.

Build Power Workshops to date: 14

Solar Trailers Built: 27

Mobile Solar Generators Built: 86

UPCYCLED ENERGY

Our Upcycle Energy Program repurposes new and used-but-functional green infrastructure like solar panels, racking and batteries.

We distribute these items to select nonprofit and service organizations for either climate disaster response/recovery or other renewable energy projects. Depending on the organization’s skill set, we also provide technical consultations or assistance in finding a local installer.

Waste Reduction

We’ve diverted over 50 pallets of
e-waste from landfills.

Disaster Resilience

Repurposing equipment makes communities prepared
for the next unexpected disaster.

Clear Energy Access

Keeping green infrastructure
working benefits more people.

Our Allies Keep Our Programs Green-lit!

  • Your financial support helps us compensate our team, purchase essential equipment, and scale our impact. Help us decarbonize emergency response while building partnerships with like-minded organizations.

  • Equipment donations let us deliver critical technology to vulnerable communities. We actively seek solar systems, battery storage, water generators, and similar innovations. Let's discuss how your gear can accelerate green recovery efforts.

  • Collaboration drives our success. We partner with strategic organizations at every level to deploy equipment, identify critical needs, and amplify our impact. These alliances are essential for reaching disaster-affected communities.

Our Allies Say:

Energize Community Resilience

Your donation helps us expand the reach of our programming to communities in need.
